In search of high grade SBA's
Would you believe a MS67 from a US Mint set?
One would think that all the 79'-81' Mint Sets have been searched over and sold and searched over again. It was just by chance I picked a Ebay seller with low Feedback numbers as one that doesn't sell that much or is fairly new at Ebay. I only paid $8.00 plus shipping. As soon as I looked thru my 16x piece, I suspected the 1981D was a MS67. I even thought the 1981S was a MS66. I was half right, the 1981D is a MS67. Just got the results back from NGC this morning. Really makes the weekend drag out not knowing..
Then, awhile back, I bought 4 original bank rolls of the SBA 1979 P's. All were Narrow Rim but I knew there was at least one MS67 from those rolls. I proceeded to buy a few more from the same EBAY seller. He said he received a whole box as a gift sometime ago....kinda hard to beleive but if he was a collector he would have at least opened a couple of rolls to check out the condition. My first batch I sent in for grading....indeed there was one MS67 Narrow Rim. I sent in a few more with my latest submission and yes...another MS67 Narrow Rim. And to complete my submission results....I found one 2010 D Fillmore MS67...so far...the only one...from both FDI and regular business strike.
Now, I must get my next submission set to go...I bought a set of 2008 SAC's P&D for just over face value and a few look really good!....Wish me luck!....Gosh...this is fun with the results match yours.
