And also have been buying some 2008-w unc. Gold...

Greetings Collectors,

Since Jan. 1st my "self imposed" moratorium on "newps" (new purchases) has expired and I have been wasting little time in making up for "lost time". most of my buys have been in the form the "metal" takes before it is refined into blanks. I have however been buying several pieces of "modern gold" because of two things. Number one the 2008 "fractionals" have extremely "low mintage" figures & I am continuing to see prices push higher and higher. for example this time last year I was contemplating whether or not to buy the "Ultra High Relief" $20 Saint. I chose however to buy an 8/8/08 "Double Properity" set which consisted of a 1/2 ounce example of both the uncirculated Gold Buffalo & the Gold Eagle. I then was able to buy yet one more of these sets. I promptly sent one of them off to NGC along with a couple of 1/4 ounce Gold Eagles, again the 2008-W uncirculated versions. I don't usually make awesome moves when it comes to my "coin buying" but boy! did I ever hit it on that decision. All 4 coins came back MS-70 and I just sold my "Double Properity" graded set on ebay for $3199 (outside of ebay) I have one of my 2008-W 1/4 ounce Gold eagles an MS-70 listed under a "buy it now" or best offer for $1495. I have a pending offer from two people, one for $1050 & the other is $1200. I have not accepted the $1200 offer yet and it is a few days old. Now thinking back I was really "struggling" with myself thinking how I was going to buy two "coin sets" that cost $1125 each along with a couple of 1/4 ounce gold coins for $297 each? Boy don't I wish I could "go back" in time.

So anyway I am going "guns ablazing" with my ebay sales and doing quite well to say the least. I am useing the proceeds to continue to buy my silver bars and I have decided to try and "corner the market" on the "ultra low mintage" 1/10th oz. gold eagles from this past year. The 2008-W, which sport a total mintage of a mere 12,657 coins. This figure is the lowest ever and with the "West point" mint mark fractional future in question, I can not think of a better place to park some funds. I own two and have bought two more & will try to pick up another 3 or 4 in addition. Now my whole point of ebay was to "sell out" of ALL of my "modern coins". I have decided that from this point going forward, I am keeping ALL my "West Point Gold" and watching very closely when and where I can "snipe" some bargains on sill more examples.

But my "new found love", my little silver bars, is a collection that is beginning to "take shape". What you see here is what has come in the mail since my last post. Most are the "old style" but a few such as the 10-ounce "Englehard" bars are newer. I was able to pick up the "older" Englehard 10-oz. bar (pictured) from a seller in Canada for melt and "free shipping". So I am having a "blast" with all of this selling & buying and even have added another bar from "audrops" great state of Nevada. I already had a 3-ounce version, now I have the 10-ounce and tonight I hope to snag a 3-ounce example from "Nevada Coining & Mining". This is kinda what I am trying with my collection, and that is to get a small size of a refiner a close to 5-ounce example and then finally a 10-ounce example trying of course to get weights with a "decimal" in the final weight tally. I hardly think I could ever be happy buying the modern "mass produced" bars being made today unless I can get them for "melt" or below.

So I hope all is well with all of you and trust the "new year" is treating you well. Until next time, Happy Collecting!
