Now off to NGC they go...

Greetings Collectors,

The last coin I have been waiting on came today. The "Braille" Proof Dollar will now join the other fifteen coins to be sent out on Monday. I actually already had a Braille proof but knew this one would be here any day and I did not want to make the trip to the bank and then try and find it in one of the four boxes. One would think it a pleasant job to go digging through a bunch of coins, but to find one such as this was not something I wanted to tackle with all the holiday traffic and the like, coupled with not knowing exactly where it was. Anyway I was not going to send off the group to NGC until the two small gold eagles came in the mail and they came yesterday. So now "the gangs all here".

I have fooled around and let my only coin publication lapse, so now with my latest edition of Numismatic News, Dec. 15th edition, I will share the latest figures on the Braille Commemorative issue. They are as follows:

Total Proofs sold: 133,064

Total Uncirculated sold: 70,751

Total Education Sets sold: 10,003 (for a grand total of 80,754 Unc's sold)

Not a super low mintage, but still a fairly low one compared to other past Dollar Commemoratives. Although I am not sorry for getting three of each, I just hope my kids appreciate what I've been doing for the last fifteen plus years. I sometimes think I'm nuts for buying all these items in "three's". But, oh well, the things we strive to do for our children.

So Christmas is almost apon us and I have been reading about all of you with snow. It is only this time of year when I wish we got snow. The Christmas of 1989 we got over three inches here in NE Fl. and it actually snowed a few days before Christmas and stayed on the ground until about Jan. 4th or 5th. It's cold now with temps dropping to 38-40 tonight, then warming up to 60 with wind on Sun. At least we have it a little cold. We usually have temps in the 70's on Xmas morn. Doesn't much "feel" like Christmas like that.

So I trust all of you are close to being done with your shopping and try not to forget about your self. If you are like me, it's always about the family and seeing that they get all you can possibly give, and then some. So this year try to spring for a little something for yourself. My gift from me to me is this $300 plus submission to NGC. Now I end the year the way I usually do, FLAT BROKE...

Happy Collecting!
