May the Lord bless you and keep you

I still own my Lincoln Pennys, my beloved nickels. My Commemorative Set valued at over $5,000 just sold for $1,600. Wow, talk about another dose of reality.

This site is not about coin selling, that is correct; however I would like all to remember the name of this site the Collector's Society.

Society requires an ability of a number of individuals to formulate rules, designate responsibilities and formulate a means for communicating in a respectful, albeit honorable way.

If we are to use the word society, it implies the above. Therefore the rules are as the majority agrees to them. For those of you who have not been around a long time, this site was turning into a sales forum several years ago. The rules were a little grey back then and it was decided that no direct sales on this site (in the forum) was acceptable. Amy got on me because I had named my extras (second and third sets) as "Lincoln Pennys For Sale". While the words are clear that the coins were for sale, what was not understood was, they were not for sale on this site. These were the coins I was selling on eBay. Neverthless, I changed the name of my collections to My MS Lincoln Extra Set #2 or something like.

By default NGC is the regulator of this site. Years ago there was much conversation about what could and what could not be done on this site, the above was discussed and agreed upon. All sales activity ceased.

While I see a difference in stating that my coins are going to an auction on Teletrade is different than sending a note to everyone on this site saying I have a 2012, Lincoln Proof Penny for sale for only $5,099, some do not.

This is where the respect comes in. I respect what my fellow collectors say, whether I agree or disagreee. That is the bottom line.

This is a site for collectors, however it is a collector's society and that implies that while collecting is the centerpoint of this forum, it does not limit it to simply that. Unfortunately for some of us, we have fallen on hard times, whether due to our misteps or fate, it matters not. A good friend on this site who prayed for my sales to go well, I can only say: you're right, God will sort it out.

I am sure there are athiests out there and that is fine too, substitute something else for the word God.

I do pray that no more of you have to painfully watch as your finer pieces are taken from your once full safe are gone. I do know there are others who have seen their income drop 90%. I would hope that our "society" would be compassionate of him/her should they call out for their brother and sisters in this tight community to help them out.

Greed was not the issue here, nor has it been for a long while. Humanity is the issue at hand. From a personal persepctive, I wanted to see my fellow collectors here pick up the spoils of my failure rather than a wholesaler. My coins (former) belong with collectors not resale folks. As it stands, my mortgage is paid for another month and my three kids will get to stay in their house for another month.

If that is achieved through a post here, then any firestorm or controversy it causes is/was worthwhile. Best wishes to all and please pay attention to upcoming Teletrade Auctions, I have many more going and so do several of your fellow collectors who are losing everything they have. Watch as the nummbers fall in the middle of the pack.

I am ranked somewhere around 300 now, soon to drop vastly as a result of tonights auction, 2 years ago I was 82 and rising. I hope this does not happen to you.

God Bless and Good Night
