COIN COLLECTING JOY
It ain't a sin to make a buck while you have fun is it?
You know, I have been collecting coins for 50 years or so and I really love this hobby. I have coins in my collection from the 1800's that were collected and passed down by my grandparents and those are the most prized pieces I own, despite their relative poor condition and some poorly done cleaning done by an inexperienced novice in the '50's (me). That having been said, IF I had been around in 1909, I would have loved to have found a roll or two of 1909 S vdb penny's, or a 1916 D Mercury dime or two, well, you get the point. What amazes me now is all this discussion about why or why not a coin will be worth something or not. It all seems counter productive to me somehow. Hype is good for the hobby, as are price increases.....it keeps the hobby growing and it's participants happy (unless you missed something). I have been lucky on the Silver Eagle's, but I totally missed the Presidential Spouse and Error Presidential dollars....much to my dismay! That having been said, I certainly don't hope that they will go down in price, or not continue to go up, just so that I can buy one for $39 on Ebay!
