These historic coins ...
were rejected in Ireland at striking and are quite hard to find today. NGC has only graded 9 other examples of this particular coin, the 1723/2 Wood's Hibernia Halfpenny overdate.
This one will be sent in soon to see what its fate may be. I'm thinking F/VF with a true overdate. This would certainly justify the cost of this coin raw. I don't see any major marks or corrosion or signs of cleaning that would hold this coin back. Natural wear only. I hope the NGC grading gurus will agree and give this one a decent grade and true overdate.
This is my second purchase in this set but the first I have received. I will likely wait on the other coin to send them in to NGC for grading.
Thanks for reading and enjoy the pics!
