Today, I noticed I had received a 1944 Washington quarter in my change.

This is the first time in many moons that I received an all silver coin in change. It happens so infrequently anymore, I can't even remember the last time I found one in my change.

Back when I was a kid, it was common place. I even remember some Indian Head nickels floating around. Of course I am in my 50's, so when I was a kid, silver coinage was the norm.
