Sending proofs to NGC

Funny you should mention it

It is funny that Bruce brought up the thought of sending his silver proof sets in to be graded. I will be sending in my clad proof sets, 1998 through 2006 a couple sets at a time. In my opinion, it is a shame to break open proof sets, but I believe it would improve the value more often than not. If the complete set came back PR70, then that seems like the best possible scenerio. The worst would be that they came back less than PR65. I had another thought also. What if one of the coins (or a few) were found to be errors? I have found that I feel more comfortable knowing that my coins are accuratly graded, and in a holder that will keep them in the same condition for years to come. I plan to have all my coins certified eventually. Expensive, yes. But knowing the accurate grade of my coins to me, is worth the extra cost. I say go for it Bruce!. They can still be kept as a set. I thought about the multi-coin holders, but I like the option to be able to trade or sell off 1 or all of a set. Most of my collection, and collections to come, will help finance my retirement. So in 10 years, I think my coins will be easier to sell, if they are graded.
