Why would anybody buy coins from China?

To make a profit, of course...

First off, I'm making a lot of assumptions here, as I have never seen a listing on eBay for US Coins that were coming from China, so I may not know what I'm talking about... :-) However, I have a sneaking suspicion that I am on target with what I'm about to write.

Firstly, I would venture to guess that these listings on eBay from Chinese sellers allow for purchases of multiple coins in one transaction. If that is the case, then the answer as to why someone would buy US coins from a seller located all the way in China becomes obvious. Greed and Profit, pure and simple.

The purchaser, in more than all likelihood, knows that the coins for sale from China are almost certainly counterfeit, or else is so incredibly naive that they can't believe the deal they're getting. Either way, the intent of the purchaser, I'd be willing to bet, is to resell those very same coins back out on eBay.

By doing this, that purchaser is playing with fire, in my opinion, as a Morgan Dollar is still, to my knowledge, US Currency, and I would think (I don't know and would love to see a reply on this from someone more knowledgeable than myself) that trafficking in counterfeit Morgans is no different than if they were $50 bills, as far as the law is concerned.
