NGC SUBMISSIONS

I recently submitted my 1947 P.D.S mint sets to NGC. They said to put the coins in 2X2 plastic flips, without tape or staples. I had to fold them over at the open end, to keep them from falling out of the flips. I am going to send a full 1999 proof set in to be graded, but wonder if I should just pay the extra to have them remove them from the holder. Any suggestions from you seasoned collectors out there? If I should take them out myself, what is the easiest method for doing so? Can it be done so as not to damage the case? Or must I just use a set of pliers and crunch while trying not to damage the coins?? Any answers would be greatly appreciated.
