JOY OF COMPLETION REVISITED
6 Year Effort Comes to Fruition.
"15 Most Wanted List" Has It's First Capture of 2007.On January 18,2007, I completed what I started in November, 2000.In 2000, I purchased an 1896-S Barber Quarter in AU-53. That purchase began a 6 year adventure in search of a complete set of these elusive coins. Today, the arrival of a 1900-S, MS-62, filled the last hole in my set. This coin was also #2 on my 15 Most Wanted List for 2007; making this the earliest capture (18 days into the new year) that I have ever experienced. This has been a collecting experience of steady searching/ rejection of specimens/ disappointment/ and extreme excitement!Examples:-the 1901-S and 1913-S were found at the same time. Budget Buster!-1898-S , I stumbled across after I gave up bidding on another example a few weeks earlier.-And, finally, the 1900-S surprised me. It was not the coin that I thought would be last, but I have been able to find no acceptable examples in 6 years!!2 years ago I found an MS64 PCGS, but upon closer examination, the dealer discovered a bad case of PVC. The year 2006, saw 2 examples; an MS 65 and 67- Too rich!!This MS62 is a really nice eye appealing coin, and I'm thrilled to have it.So now its time to sit back and enjoy this beautiful grouping; and celebrate a bit. Then as sure as I'm breathing, I'll begin the inevitable upgrading process!
