The Beginning of something

Hello, and welcome. I will be using this journal to chronicle my adventures with the registry and my collection. I’ve been active on the registry now for almost a year and have started working on many sets, the main area that I would like to focus on is Eastern Europe. Mainly Latvia and Ukraine but I would love to expand into other countries eventually. I’ve been working on my Latvia 5 Euro set and I’m looking forward to getting my most recent submission back to work on that.

I’ve been reading the Revenant’s Journals on here and as well as inspiring me to do a journal myself it got me thinking about how I view my registry collection. And I viewed it as keeping it a secret but I realized that I would like to share more of my coin collecting journey. Hopefully I can keep my journal updated fairly regularly in case anyone else is interested in the journey. Until next time

My fellow collector of Ukrainian coinage welcome! I look forward to reading your journal entries and discussing coins, any coins.

Psst... I'm big into Ukrainian banknotes as well, let me know if you want to talk paper money.

(thumbsu Glad to see you join / share. Always glad to hear that what I'm doing is enjoyed and maybe inspiring others, whether that's to build up their presentations more, start new sets, or start a journal - though I do also wonder if these posts and writings will ever give my sons insights into who I was at this time in my life.

That said - do you, share what you want to share and write and do what you enjoy. :) My joking / silliness in a recent entry encouraging others to speak up and participate aside, do what feels right to you. As others pointed out, there are other considerations in what we share here and I do understand that.

Enjoy the journey. Looking forward to it. (thumbsu

I collect banknotes as well, I love Czechoslovakian notes, but I have older ones from across Europe. Definitely seen you in the registry on some of the sets I have coins in.

I only have one Czech note but it's probably my favorite note, design wise, the 1929 50 Korun. It's a beauty!

Hey, what do you think about the mechanical (label) error on the 2016 5 hryvnia "Ukraine Starts With You" coin? NGC has it as silver but it's not. I was thinking of requesting that they move that slot out of the 5H Silver MS & PF set and stick it in the 5H 35mm 1998 - Date set where it belongs.

I wouldn't be opposed to it, I think its made of Nickel Silver but it doesn't have any silver content listed so it really doesn't belong there.

Cool, I'll ask about it. I have that coin in MS69 as well, just haven't stuck it in the registry yet because I was waiting to see if NGC will move the slot. (thumbsu

Hello and Welcome VE Coins!!

You've found a very cool area to focus in on with your collecting.  There are a lot of us here who work within a specific niche, myself included.  And I can completely understand being inspired by Revenant.....he doesn't keep winning those Journal awards for nothing, that's for sure!!! His Journal is great.  Another good one to check out is coinsandmedals.....his Journal is also fantastic.  I look forward to seeing where your collecting journey takes you and I wish you much luck, success and enjoyment during your journey!

At least you're not the guy who keeps making shark jokes in different threads, as I am, and at least your silliness is inspiring!!! But in all seriousness though, you really do seem to be inspiring some people to jump into the Journal pool William....and that's pretty cool to see.

So... I've given this some thought this morning and I need to take you to task on this. All those journals on Ukrainian banknotes in the PMG journal and not a peep here on coins. What is up with that? :taptaptap::baiting:

Yeah I've thought about keeping a journal over here and the main reason I haven't is time. Not sure how you find the time to maintain two journals. (thumbsu I might start inflicting my level of crazy over here in 2022, I definitely have coin stuff to talk about, and now that I've completed all my Zim sets (other than p105) I'll have more time to focus on coins.

I might start with my latest submission results once they arrive in 2022. lol 49 business days since received, current turnaround 88 days, I'm officially over half way there. :golfclap:Hopefully turnarounds start to decrease a little, but with the 2021 Morgan and Peace dollars getting in peoples hands now I'm pretty sure that ain't gonna happen. :wishluck:

Looks like NGC did move that slot and created a new set for you. (thumbsu

Thank You NGC!

I'm obsessive and crazy and have no life. :insane: But, yeah, this is my one obsession and my one vice. I joke with my wife that I spend time and money on this but I don't go to bars, I don't golf, I don't like going to sporting events and I don't get much time for photography other than coin photography these days. I also don't just spend a lot of time just sitting around. I'm always doing something. You'd be amazed what you can accomplish when you just keep moving and doing from 6AM to 9PM. lol

You're not finished Stop lying. :p
