Revenant Posted December 28, 2019 I'm far from an expert and I've never seen one of these in person, but, based on the image below of a PCGS certified example, I'd say it's fake. Link to comment
coinsbygary Posted December 28, 2019 The give away to this fake is the reeded edge. These coins had edge inscriptions. A simple check of the Red Book of United States Coins reveals this. The Red Book is a bare bones needed resource if you want to collect coins. It is also inexpensive. Link to comment

What is your problem? Look in a Red book or at any Capped Bust half site, or NGC's Coin Explorer. All will tell you the same thing: this coin is a fake. If you can't read well enough to see that for yourself, and you are purchasing coins like the OP's coin, you are in for a long, expensive trip. Link to comment

Well, if he's paying a few bucks a piece for fakes like the OP it might not be all that terribly expensive - just as long as he doesn't pay "real" money. It always amazes me when people pay $1-4 for a coin that, if real, would have a melt value of $12. Because people do no research and have no idea what they're buying. Link to comment

Paranoid and an optimist. Quite a combination, really. Crawtomatic 1 Link to comment

Please, OUTCAST, buy that coin from the OP for $12. Give him $20, or even more, if you feel bad about ripping him off. Edited January 9, 2020 by Just Bob Link to comment
