Question about mint sets

4 posts in this topic

Hi all hi.gif

i have started looking at Mint sets for my 1971 set and i have been buying "unopend from the mint" packages.

today i recived another to open and found all the coins from philly frosted or with some form of coating, these are the best condition ones i have so far found but will they be down graded because of the "coating" from the mint..

Ps the Five cent has clouds over the building in the coating 27_laughing.gif looks realy cool thumbsup2.gif

It is probably just the plastic they are in. I had several like that and when I broke them out they were beauties.

The mint sets from that era are really four layers of plastic with the internal ones being a very soft plastic that apparently contains PVC.

A lot of these sets get problems and a lot of them will get toning.
