grade opinion on this Staffordshire halfpenny

4 posts in this topic

I would appreciate your opinions in regards to the date(I think it is 1797 but the seller said 1793) and condition of this halfpenny. Can the finger print be removed without damaging the coin's patina? Also, any history of the coins/tokens. Thank you for your time.

Appears to be Staffordshire Leek D&H #10, a common variety. The date is 1793.

It appears to be AU but I don't like the colors - cleaned and retoned? Include whatever is going on with the planchet under the MM of COMMERCIAL and I would pass on this one.

I agree with Farthing, D&H 10 1793. Detail wise it is nice but it looks like it has suffered corrosion below the MM and that corrosion has been removed an the coin cleaned and recolored. With the problems this is a $10 - $15 coin at best.
