You are aware of the fact that NGC just went to the new 100 point grade point scale, right? foreheadslap.gif

Possible, but I doubt it.

Now I just have to wait for them to arrive and wait till I get back from Vegas before I can see them and get them up on the Bay. I may send one or two sets in to be placed in the multi coin holders.

On the other hand, you could have just single-handedly depressed the market. devil.gif
Or is that deflated 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

Congrats. That's very impressive. Did you pre-screen these? 893applaud-thumb.gif

Nope, I ordered five sets of each. Looked at them and then packaged them and sent them on to be graded. I bought them to get graded and to sell on the bay. Was really expecting the majority to come back 69 instead of 70. I think I ordered on the first day they were offered. Not sure if that has anything to do with it or not. Sent them in original packing as well.

Thanks, let's hope the luck continues. I am going to try and get a couple rolls of the new dollars to take with me and give them out as tips, etc. Be cool to see reactions I will get. Does anyone know of any cools shops to visit while in Vegas?

how bout explaining something to a novice at ngc. i realize that these are modern issues at a reduced rate, but do you get a super discount rate for that many coins or how is it profitable to slab that many coins what with shipping/handling/insurance both ways. just curious. i have to wait until i have the most valuable coin group to send them in and then its a *spoon* shoot.

thanks jes

Well, here is my cost so far for these:

5 Clad proofs from Mint = 69.75

5 Silver proofs from Mint = 129.75

Shipping is 4.95

So from Mint I have spent 204.45

So right now my per coin cost is $4.089

Grading fee and shipping from NGC cost 609.60

Now with my per coin cost is $16.281

So add Ebay fees plus my shipping to NGC you figure on about $18 per coin.

So as long as I can make more than $18.00 per coin I will come out ahead. I will probably sell some as sets and some as individual coins to try and max my return.

Good job Dwaine. thumbsup2.gif

I would think with an $18 break even point you should do well with what you sell. cool.gif

First - Congrats Dwayne! That's an impressive return.

Jes, there is no discount for 48 coins. In order to get a reduced rate, you need to send 100 pieces or more of the same series/type. ie: Proof Clad Statehoods, or Commems, or BU Franklins, etc...

What makes it "profitable" is when you get an invoice back like Dwayne's. A well-prepared large order will return a few peaches - you break even on the chaff to make good money on the peaches.

well Jack

big time as i am, i just sent in 4 morgans and a 59 indian and am scared to death as to their grade. they are gorgeous coins to me and many who saw them but as to how ngc will grade-go figure.

it is actually fun and should they grade well, quite profitable. if not i will not lose but should break even. not to bad a risk.

by the way dwaine-great luck and pregrading.
