What is this coin?

I was thinking french because of LOUIX XVI on the Obv. but I am not sure as to what this coin is denomination, grade value ect.. I only payed like 2-3 dollars for it just another piece for my son's collection. Can anyone shed a little light on what this coin is? thanks,D

 

I know the date is 1785, not in the best of shape but what can you expect out of a 221 year old coin.looks like it has seen better days:
