whats a strike through?

My understanding of a strike through is when a foreign object such as grease, wire, etc. gets in between the planchet and the die, and when the coin is struck, the foreign object becomes trapped on the coin essentially.

I have a couple of examples I can share with you.

This dollar was struck through a piece of wood. The wood is long gone, but the effect on the dollar is very easy to see..

This strike-through is on a proof Sacagawea from the 2004 Westward Journey Coin & Medal Set. It appears as though it was caused by compacted debris that fell from the die.
