Whats best zoom to get real good look at a coin an all details?

7 posts in this topic

I was wondering what is the best zoom for viewing all the details of a coin, any die cracks errors, I was thinking of getting a microscope for viewing things like double dies ect.. the one I was looking at has 100x,200x, and 300x now I think that the 200 and 300 would be a lil much for viewing coins but would the 100x zoom be alright for viewing these such errors? any info would be great thanks.

I have heard the vam guys speak of using a microscope. I have never used one. I just use my camera and photo it. Then blow it up. Also my eyes work well. Also Welcome!

I agree that 100x is far too much. The highest magnification I use is a 10x and I use a Zeiss for that. Invest in good quality optics at this level and you will be happy.
