I love this one, but they should have given it a name. I call it "The Pioneer Family". From left to right: big brother with baby brother on his shoulders, father, mother and daughter.

Would you believe it's as tall as the Empire State Building?

I don't know how many photos I can get in one post, but I don't want to overload the system. Arch wouldn't be happy with me. More to follow.

Eventually, that outcropping will become the Colorado "Old Man in the Mountain" (it will look just like George Burns) and appear on the Colorado state quarter for 2000006.

Hello Chris----Read all your posts. And I have enjoyed your vacation pictures. Thanks for sharing. Really do like the remote areas of our country. But I must have my hardwood trees---the oaks, maples---the fruit trees---along with the pines and firs. So, I guess I will stay here in my woods with the deer and turkeys. Thanks Chris for your time to show us a good time. Bob [supertooth]

Bob, I'm glad you're enjoying it. Did I mention that I got to Grand Junction just in time for their peach harvest? They're the size of softballs and very sweet and juicy.

Chris, I'm fascinated by your photos! The geology in incredible. You photos are extremely professional. So, I can assume that the camera gets most of the credit for this? blush.gif And we have the same type of camera so there's hope for me!

For once, Victor, you're right. The camera did all of the work, but the credit should go to..................

The reason I went to Colorado in the first place.

I hope everyone has enjoyed the photos.

Well, I've always thought that you're a very intelligent, humourous, likable guy. Have I been mistaken??

Well, I guess that there is at least one other person who thinks so...

Victor, I figured out a cool little trick using the camera. A number of the photos were taken looking directly into the bright Colorado sun. I thought that some of them would be totally washed out by the glare. What I did was zoom in fully on the subject and depress the shutter release halfway, then zoom back out and take the picture. It worked pretty good.

Victor, did you check out the caption I added to the photo just before "Canyon in a canyon"? It's the third from the end.

Chris

Yeah, the one that looks like a fierce Aztec warrior? Thanks, bud. blush.gif

Your second picture looks just like the view from my Parent's front porch years ago.

(they retired in Grand Junction, right next to the park )

We used to sit and watch mama eagles train their babies up there in the cliffs!

Raw nature at it's finest! Great photos !!

thx, GAB
