1954-S Roosevelt Dime....date looks strange.

Might be tough to tell from picture, but the 4 seems flat as a pancake....the coin itself shows no signs of wear and appears to be fairly high grade to me. It's just for an album, but I was wondering what caused the date to be so flat.

That dime is from a very late die state, the dies being eroded and the design drawn toward the border. Note the flowlines radiating from the center, which is typical of worn dies.
