Guess the grade: 1855 Ty.2 gold dollar-grade revealed

I picked this beauty up at a recent auction,it's nothing you'd find in Michael's collection but this one will work for me(unless Michael would like to trade wink.gif)

that is a michael coin and scarce with a full date the word dollar and overall well struck for a type two

i would say xf45 in eye appeal

 

and the coin has above average eye appeal thumbsup2.gif

Wow! Quite a difference in grading,F-15 to AU!

The coin is in a VF-35 holder,so Hoot and Mozin got it right.

One thing ou have to remember with gold dollars is that they are almost always weakly struck,but as Michael said it has a decent strike,compared to how weak they can be.

It would easily pass for an XF if raw,but if james wants to call it an AU I'll be happy to let him have for only XF bid! wink.gif
