Guess the grade: 1855 Ty.2 gold dollar-grade revealed

I picked this beauty up at a recent auction,it's nothing you'd find in Michael's collection but this one will work for me(unless Michael would like to trade )

That looks like a nice coin as long as it isn't porous. I would go with F15.

that is a michael coin and scarce with a full date the word dollar and overall well struck for a type two

That coin is a Solid VF 25

I must be crazy, but it looks high-end XF, maybe even AU to me.....

Wow! Quite a difference in grading,F-15 to AU!

The coin is in a VF-35 holder,so Hoot and Mozin got it right.

One thing ou have to remember with gold dollars is that they are almost always weakly struck,but as Michael said it has a decent strike,compared to how weak they can be.

It would easily pass for an XF if raw,but if james wants to call it an AU I'll be happy to let him have for only XF bid!
