Mexico 1915 Amecameca Revolutionary Coins

I sent in a 50 centavos Amecameca piece in last year.  I got the coin back as AU Details.  Shortly after receiving my coin from my LCS, I tried to ask NGC to make a set for Mexican Revolutionary Coinage (think Oaxaca, Puebla, etc) and right after the request my coin was deemed a Contemporary Counterfeit on the NGC database, which was really odd.  I tried to sort this out with customer service but they were not helpful at all and gave me a good run around, while then telling me that I need to send it to a Mexican coin specialist, which is what I thought I did when I sent this coin to them.  I just asked my LCS guy to resend the coin and have them put Not Genuine or Counterfeit on the holder, as opposed to gaslighting me by putting a classification on a coin reserved for legit coins.  I sent two 20 centavo Amecameca pieces as well.  I hope this gets resolved and NGC acknowledges an Amecameca Revolutionary Set soon.

Thank you for posting a picture of the coin. I will start by saying that your coin is very nice. It is an interesting and unique piece of history. Many times, the contemporary counterfeits are MORE valuable and scarcer than the real thing. I have looked into your coin. Your coin has been re labeled with the original cert number and now states Contemporary Counterfeit (Undated) Mexico 50C Mexico/ Amecameca AU DETAILS Enviromental Damage. You should receive your coin back soon. Cheers!

Thank you very much for your prompt response.  I just looked up a Contemporary Counterfeit 50 centavo Amecameca piece that is being sold for $900.00 on Heritage.  It’s an MS-62 though.  You are probably right that this coin maybe worth more than an authentic piece.
