Just wondering if it is caused from dye deterioration..because the thick Liberty letters? Thanks

It does look like there was some minor die deterioration with the slightly "mushy" appearance, combined with wear and some hits.

Possibly, but when evaluating coins with this much circulation wear it is almost impossible to distinguish between circulation wear/damage and any minor striking anomalies like a worn die.

So my dad gave me his Penny coin collection books from when he was a kid..i am looking threw them to see what I find ..will be posting more as I look threw..thanks.
