1979 D or S penny?

I have searched my coin jar finally after seeing some videos on coins. After searching this stood out. Anyone know if it's a fake or a real error?

   Welcome to the NGC chat board.

   Your 1979-D (?) Lincoln cent has been mutilated, apparently by being extensively scraped with a tool. It doesn't resemble any type of mint error. The tooling has affected the mintmark, which has been transformed into a shapeless blob. It was presumably a "D", as "S" mint coins were only made for inclusion in 1979 proof sets and are rarely found in circulation.
