Here's what a wheel mark can look like. Either from  a coin rolling machine or from a spinning or rotating device of some kind. These marks disqualify most coins for a straight grade. Coin: 1964 P Kennedy 50c Silver. Beautiful but in just the right light..boom dead soilder.20230115_144825.thumb.jpg.40ff96e3c32a3bc96da8f11c5cac2001.jpg

It might be road rash. Not likely from a coin wrapper machine as the wheels would bear on the edges of the coins and rotate them up against a metal tang to close the ends. The metal tang would create more of a narrow circular scrape mark near the rim.

It could be a type of spinning tool mark?  This coin was taken out of a "last year"numismatic collectors clock made in the 60s. The road rash theory occured to me but the damage does not extend to the rims. Wheel marks from coin operated vending machine?
