This phenomenon is normal on cents of the 1960s, especially those of 1968. The master die for the Lincoln cent obverse dated back to 1919, and the devices and lettering had spread out from nearly five decades of use.  The master die was finally replaced in 1969, which is why they look so different from their predecessors.
