1972 5 double struck or double die? Does worth send it for grading?

Your coin looks like it has some strike doubling only, and considering the condition of the coin it would not be worth sending in even if it was a doubled die coin.  There are some known DDO's for this year/mm but they are all very minor and the number of buyers for such a coin is very small.

It is only the major DD’s that are worth a big premium. There are many minor DD’s out there that are certainly not worth the cost of grading. Don’t forget that if the Mint got a million strikes of that die, then there would be a million out there the same as yours and this goes for most of the minor DD’s as well.
