nodeliman
Just joined this group. With all the spare time off work I am looking at my coin collection in depth for the first time. Came across this 1984 Lincoln cent. Is this a true doubled die?

Coinbuf
No that flat shelf like look comes from strike doubling and carries no premium. This photo from Variety Vista shows a true 1984 doubled ear.
nodeliman
Thanks for input. Obviously I am not grasping the doubling totally. The 1984 doubled lobe you pictured, is it the only doubled lobe for that year then?
Ruby Abernathy
maybe these can help you. I'm a newbie too and find that looking in your coin books or google what you want to know will often show pics of what you want. Its not always easy to be a newbie. but, no one learned it all in a day or all in a book. Everyone here seems to be very well educated on all subjects of coins and have helped me greatly. Have fun & hope this helps.
