Double Struck Wheat Penny No Date
0

3 posts in this topic

While going through some coins left to my wife by her father I found a double struck wheat penny.  It has no visible date and the word UNUM is backward and stamped into the coin rather than raised.  I searched the web and came up with prices all over the map.  Do I have a coin of value?

Welcome to the Forum

It is not a Doubled Struck cent. It sounds like what you have is what is known as "Vise Job". This is when one or more coins are squeezed together transferring the design in reverse from one coin to the other. If it was a true Double Struck coin, the image would be reading positive and raised. This coin has no value above face.
