Need help identifying old british silver coin

Would like to, but the pics suck too much to work with. (Don't feel bad. I'm a lousy photographer.) Also, need weight and diameter.

Thank you for replying. Bout 18mm across. I dont have any small scales. Couldnt be more than a gram or two. Its almost exact size but hair bigger than a dime. Ill try to get a better pic, but all i got is a phone for internet stuff

Welcome to the boards!

This is not exactly my area of expertise but if I had to hazard a guess it is likely a silver Penny issued under William I (1066-1087). It might be S-1257. Maybe one for the more seasoned experts can chime in with more info.

Weight will matter (grams to one decimal place) because the listed possibilities will have weight shown, and that's how we narrow things down. Same for diameter, though I understand that's easier surmounted since most people in the US have a ruler with millimeters on one side.

The photo issue standing in the way is the fuzziness of the legends around the outsides. They are difficult enough to read when clear and sharp, owing to the antiquated font combined with wear, so we need as much clarity (more than in the second photos, though the effort is appreciated) as can be had.

Yeah the words around the edge are wore pretty good. Id say its a William I after looking that up. Thanks everyone. The diameter varies beings the condition of the edge. The largest diameter i read was 23/32. Which is 18.2mm i think. I really appreciate the quick response. I will figure out a way to weigh it and try to get a better pic, but not sure im capable. . . yeah they aint much better. Should i get it graded to get an idea of value? It seems a little rough15677247896139041680151375564178.thumb.jpg.e5468e1870298343b41cb2e1ff8b4a72.jpg
