1982 D Copper Penny

Is this the small cent coin?i weighed it up against several coins. The top 4 numbers appear to be aligned and the bottom of 1,8,2 appear to be aligned. Input would greatly be appreciated. Thank you!

There are more things to look at than just whether or not the tops or bottoms of the numerals in the date are in line. In fact, that (to me) is a difficult diagnostic to try to distinguish. If you compare these pictures, you will see that the shape of the "2" and its distance from the rim is one easy way to tell the difference. Also, the other letters on the obverse are markedly different, especially the "B", "E", and "R" in "LIBERTY," and both letters of the word "WE."
