Hi Karri-

Welcome to the Chat Box-

What you have is not a defect but damage. Either it has taken a hit that moved the 1 over or more than likely it has been damaged by a coin counting/wrapping machine. You can still see the base of the 1 where it was originally located.

First off, hello and welcome to our little forum, Karri!

As to the coin, Greenstang has this one just right.  Definite post minting damage (or PMD as we abbreviate it around here).  There is no way that what you're seeing on your coin could happen during the striking process, so it has to be PMD.
