Mint errors

Were there 1970 quarters minted on wrong thickness planchets. I have 2 that are the thickness of dimes and saved them years ago when I was working at a restaurant. I remember having a Variety and Oddity coin book that had them listed.Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, that is one of the more well known error coins. A substantial number of 1970 quarters were coined on planchets cut from dime strip.

Thanks for the info. I couldn't find any references here-maybe not looking in the right place? Would they be worth grading? And what would they be worth?

The most recent one that I found sold on the Heritage auction site was sold in 2015. An ANACS XF45 sold for $69.  Since yours are circulated, it might not be worth having them graded, unless prices have risen substantially in the last few years.

Again,thanks for the info. My COPD is progressing faster and I want to get affairs in order. Separating wheat from the chaff.
