It appears to have been soap and watered (baking soda and warm water cleaned).

Not offensive and a wonderful addition to building a Dansco Peace dollar set. With AU details.

I wouldn't submit it for grading though.

It may have been cleaned, however, the appearance of the coin might have more to do with the fact that this looks like a scan than it has to do with any previous mishandling. This may actually be a completely original, AU coin.
