Why I don't like "Market Grading" (picts)

I've seen tons of Peace Dollars, and, like any other series no two individual coins are alike. I think that the coin has to be evaluated as a whole. IMO, it fits the criteria for a MS64 grade.

 

In the case of this coin, I wouldn't keep it with a distraction like that, but having said that, I do own a Peace $ in MS65 that has a distracting mark on the cheek like this one does (though not as noticeable). My coin, however, is at least a 66 if not a 67 without the mark, so as a whole it is satisfying to me. If the mark is an issue to you, you shouldn't keep the coin regardless of its grade.
