Help with Massachusetts early one cent coin please

Hi all just been offered these 2 coins and would like some advice on Grade Value and if they are real or not .. the first one was cleaned buy the owner "To confurn they were made of copper" !! sometimes i shudder :tonofbricks:

Not sure if it is a no stop type or not as it is in the wrong place but i know there are a lot of hand made dies for these

 

Second coin .. first two pictures were what i was sent .. Yuck but the next two dont look to bad

If you don't know them well, I would steer clear. I do not deal in them, but the 1st and 3rd one look to be the wrong color (cleaned) and the 2'd one looks to have some environmental damage.

Then wait until you find a certified example that you like. ;)

I do not think that these pieces are genuine Massachusetts cents. The word "CENT" appears on the top of the shield on the genuine coins. These pieces have stars in that spot instead. Also the die work, especially the lettering, looks amateurish and all wrong. This was the first thing I saw. There are a number of Mass. Cent copies around, and these are among the least convincing. The Mass. Cents were among the best made American coins from the pre-federal period.

 

I urge you to pass.

First thought when I looked at them were these are fake. You can find them slabbed on the market, but they are not cheap. A nice XF will cost close to $800.
