NOT THE BEST PIC.

Well it came yesterday, and I apologize for the crappy pic. It is the best I can do. When I opened the shipping box, you could smell the leather aroma and my anticipation and excitement went off the charts. It came in a absolutely gorgeous brown wood box, with leather, dollhouse type fabric inside.

Upon opening the box, I was floored by the beauty of the coin. Stunning is a better word, again I wish I had a better camera. My photo just doesn't show the awesomeness of it.

When my wife came home from work she looked at it and didn't say anything at first. Then she said it is unbelievable.

Well after our excitement settled, it was time to get the old magnifying glass out and take a good look. I do not know how to grade coins, but I don't think it is a PF70. But we are going to try and get it certified and take what it gives.

None the less, we are very happy with it, as its eye appeal is off the chart. Hope you enjoy my pic and story.

That coin is nothing less than stunning! I hope you get the 70 grade. If the price of this coin wasn't so prohibitive to my budget, I certainly would have ordered one for myself. Congratulations!

I ended up buying a Buffalo as well. According to the U.S. Mint's website just under 48,000 2013 Reverse Proof Buffalo coins were ordered. The final number will likely be less than that sold. It may actually end up being a somewhat rare modern U.S. minted coin. I realize folks will tell you to have it graded now, but the "Early Releases" label is meaningless in the first place with modern proof coins and even more meaningless with this sort of special coin.

Another option is to just hold on to the coin as is for a few years and see which way the prices are going. Look at the 2009 Ultra High Relief (UHR) gold coins on EBAY and you'll see what I mean. The raw coins sell for well over $2,000 at this point and they minted over 115,000 of them! Who knows what the 2013 Reverse Buffalo will be worth in a few years. Of course the price of Gold could also go up.

Stunning is the only word I can find. Absolutely beautiful. I hope you get a 70 and with the new quality controls, I think you have a good chance. Remember, don't send the packaging, and don't take it out of the holder. Also, just a thought...When you have a coin graded, it no longer fits in the box it came in, and displaying it will be different. There are many sources for boxes for displaying 'slabbed' coins [graded] and the boxes will enhance the beauty of your new child. In any case, again, congradulations. The Mint has quit making them, so your coin will grow in value also.

Have FUN

Capt. Brian
