Ok errorist old pal...this one's for you!!!!! I just got a shipment of errors in and thought I would post some of them for you. There's a pretty good variety and I don't have a clue about the attributions or rarity on any of them so I'll assume they are all common run of the mill errors thumbsup2.gif

I really don't know if they are collecting them and as I stated, these might be very common, but I got 24 of them for $7.00 bucks on Ebay so I figured it was worth it since I haven't seen some of these before thumbsup2.gif

I'll assume they are all common run of the mill errors

Good assumption, I'm afraid.

1944-D Lincoln (Scarface error???)

Probable damage. No value.

1944 War Nickel Lamination error

Real error. Minimal value (less than $1).

1945 Lincoln Cent Filled "4"

Damage. No value.

1948 S Lincoln Cent missing "i"

Possibly a real error; possibly damage. No value in this condition either way.

1951 D Lincoln Cent double nostril on nose

Possibly a real error; probably damage. No value in this condition either way.

1953 D Lincoln Cent filled "5"

Real error. Minimal value (much less than $1).

1954 S Lincoln Cent "BIE" error

Real error. Minimal value (maybe around $1, if the condition is as high as it appears).

1955 Lincoln Cent tear drop of extra metal below the "E"

Real error. Minimal value (much less than $1).

1956 Lincoln Cent Cracked Skull (forehead) may be lamination error

Real error. Minimal value (much less than $1).

1956 Lincoln Cent Cracked Skull #2 (runs from mouth south to rim ) may be lamination error

Definitely a lamination. Minimal value (much less than $1).

1961 D Lincoln Cent slanted "1"

Prototypical damage. No value. This example and the one above it make me think that you haven't read any books on identifying errors? These are both absolutely classic examples. The saying is "Buy the book before the coin", and it's probably the best thing to remember, always.

1962 Lincoln Cent lamination error

Real error. Minimal value (much less than $1).

1964 D Lincoln missing "4"

Real error. No value.

1968 D Lincoln Cent filled Mint Mark

Possible error. No value regardless.

1999 Lincoln Cent Off Center strike %????

Real error. Worth a few dollars.

Thanks for the feedback Jonathan thumbsup2.gif

I have been collecting for roughly 12 years and have never had an interest in errors, which is why I have limited knowledge of them. I pretty much agree with your assessment of all the coins, and knew at the time of purchase that their weren't worth very much.

I do think that for $7.00 bucks it was a nice lot, which allows those of us that do not collect error coins to see an assortment of the things that can happen at the Mint. In addition, I really only posted the coins, because I know how much errist liks errors and die cracks etc.

So your comment about buying the book before the coin is really great advice for those individuals just getting into collecting or entering a new area of collecting......but doesn't really pertain to me at this point.

Now....do you want to buy a super rare 1 of a kind 1961 Lincoln Cent with a slanted "1"????
