VarietyPlus question...

Hey gang,

Does anyone know if any of these would be considered Varieties for the VarietyPlus Service when submitting raw coins for grading?

1955/55 Linc

1909 S VDB Linc

1922 Plain Linc

1913 Type 1 Buffalo

1937 D 3-Legged Buffalo

None of these require that you designate variety plus service. They should all grade according to their variety since they are commonly encountered. You should indicate their variety on your submission form, but that's probably not even necessary.

Hoot is correct. NGC will do all of these without additional charge. They fall under a grandfather clause, since we were already recognizing these before the creation of VarietyPlus. Just be certain to note the varieties in the Variety column on the submission form, though it's unlikely that any of these would be overlooked.

I called the 800 number and they said exactly what you wrote. They're not technically varieties but any extra info (Dbld Die, Type1, Plain, V.D.B. etc.etc) should be written in the variety box.
