1864 Indian Head type?

My first thoughts on seeing the rim color are Copper Nickel. Too yellow for me to be copper, but I could be wrong. Best way to know for sure is as Mr Henway says... check the weight and thickness. The copper nickel versions are noticeably thicker. And by that I mean thicker than any cent made 1865 or later.

It looks like a copper-nickel piece to me too. Usually the bronze pieces don't have that reddish - orange color when they corrode.

Planchet (coin blank) thickness is the key. If it is much thicker than a modern cent, it is a copper-nickel piece.
