Five Star Beauty by JAA USA/Philippines Collection

I purchased a really attractive 1904S Twenty Centavos, graded NGC MS64, from David Lawrence Rare Coins yesterday.

The 1904S Twenty Centavos had a mintage of 2,060,000.

The NGC population for the 1904S Twenty Centavos in MS64 is six coins with only one specimen graded higher. NGC's high grade for this coin is MS65. The PCGS population is 20/13.

Attractive high end examples of this issue are moderately difficult to find, and this is certainly one of the finest NGC certified examples.

David Lawrence describes this specimen as "Lustrous" and gives it "Five Stars" for eye appeal, a grade that he reserves for coins with "Superb Eye Appeal".

The frosting on the cake is that the purchase price for this MS64 beauty was only pennies above the MS63 price. The 2012 Allen catalog of US/Philippine Coins lists the 1904S Twenty Centavos at $200.00 in MS63 and $550.00 in MS65. The eBay auction price that I paid for this coin was $204.49.

A 1904S Twenty Centavos in MS64 receives a respectable 964 Registry Points.

I have added this coin to the following competitive Registry Sets:

Twenty Centavos: http://coins.www.collectors-society.com/registry/coins/SetListing.aspx?PeopleSetID=51345&Ranking=all

Very nice addition. I have bought several nice cons from David Lawrence; they are great people to work with, and their auction site is one of the best around.
