Just like the penny, the dollar bill is drawing attention on the Hill, again. They both have bull's eyes on them...

Browsing CNN this afternoon and found this article.

Weigh in please!

Happy Holidays everyone.

Agreed, the 'paper" lobby is strong and the public is generally negative or indifferent. But, I am supremely confident that the public would quickly accept the Dollar coin if/when the paper Dollar is eliminated.

Denominations of coins and currency should be:

Coinage

Nickel (reduced to cent size)

Dime

Quarter

Dollar

Currency

5 Dollar

10 Dollar

20 Dollar

50 Dollar

The need for coins/currency is dropping every year, electronic transactions are here to stay.

Later,

Malcolm

What, no $100 bill? We should eliminate the nickel as well, there's no need for the mint to lose $.04 on every coin made.

Although math does get tricky when $.25 is not a multiple of $.10 ... :-)
