Description: Obv: bust of Patton faces left in 3/4 profile. GENERAL GEORGE S. PATTON around. Rev: central image of tank is superimposed over a map of France, marker to lower left reads 1 AU 7 AOUT 1944, TWON NAMES ARE NOTED (CLOCKWISE) AS AVRANCHES, VARREVILLE, VIERVILLE, ALENCON. around are NORMANDIE, BRETAGNE, ANJOU, ARDENNES, CHAMPAGNE, LUXEMBOURG, ALSACE, ALLEMAGNE. in exergue: R. LAMOURDEDIEU, 1944 . 1945 below. ** Edge stamped " Cornucopia ".

 

This is a well preserved piece with golden-brown and tan coloration. There are no contact marks or any other type of damage observed on either side. In the original round, cardboard box from the MONNAIE DE PARIS.

An offering which has not occurred since 2003 where a Fine $10 note brought $575.00 at public sale. This serial D000216A note is a new addition to a previous eight known examples. All small notes as indicative to the high charter number of 13611. Even wear and problem free paper for the grade.
