From my latest list:

Dear client,

Below, please see my list of new rare coin offerings.

Some of you will notice that recently, my lists have tended to be somewhat larger than they used to be. That is due to a combination of more work, pestering and luck. I have been looking at more coins. I have been pestering certain sellers, asking them to show me their new coins, even more than I used to. And I have been in the right place at the right time, in order to be able to acquire more coins of the type that I like to handle.

If you are have any trouble viewing the images below and/or would like to view this list as a web page, please click on the following link: http://markfeldcoins.com/client/list9812.htm

But enough about me - lets get to the coins. Ready, set, go!

Oh wait....Thanks, as always for looking.

Sincerely,

Mark

1928-D Lincoln Cent PCGS MS65RB $375

A lustrous specimen with pleasing color and scattered obverse spots. Housed in an older green label PCGS holder. PCGS ID#8391467.

Images: http://markfeldcoins.com/client/cent1928Dpcgs65RB.jpg

1955 DDO Obverse Lincoln Cent PCGS MS64RB $5375

The 1955 "Doubled Die Obverse" Lincoln Cent has always been one of my favorite coins. The mint blunder is highly conspicuous and so cool looking! And this particular example is one of the finer and more appealing representatives I have seen in a good while. As was the one that just sold in the Heritage Long Beach sale - it was certified by CAC and brought just north of $7000, including the buyer's premium. Mine has lovely color and surfaces, along with plenty of luster and a wonderful overall appearance. PCGS ID#2709681.

Images: http://markfeldcoins.com/client/cent1955DDOpcgs64RB.jpg

TWO CENT PIECES:

1865 Two Cent Piece PCGS/CAC MS66RB $1875

Lovely mellowed red brown color with exceptionally well preserved surfaces. PCGS has only graded 2 examples of this date higher - both MS67 and "RD". PCGS ID#06696176.

Images: http://markfeldcoins.com/client/twocent1865pcgs66RB.jpg

THREE CENT NICKELS

1888 Three Cent Nickel PCGS/CAC PR65 $575

Faintly toned and displaying some tiny spots which are mentioned for the sake of accuracy. Encapsulated in an older PCGS "rattler" holder. PCGS ID#6140678.

Images: http://markfeldcoins.com/client/ThreeCentNickel1888pcgPR65.jpg

NICKELS:

1913 Buffalo Nickel Type One PCGS MS67 $1275

Beautifully toned in pastel hues, with bountiful luster and a pristine appearance. PCGS ID#05304110.

Images: http://markfeldcoins.com/client/nickel1913TypeOnepcgs67.jpg

1913 Type Two Buffalo Nickel PCGS MS65 $360

This clean, problem-free Buffalo, is partially toned in an interesting fashion of the obverse. PCGS ID#25513058.

Images: http://markfeldcoins.com/client/nickel1913TypeTwopcgs65.jpg

HALF DIMES:

1832 Capped Bust Half Dime PCGS/CAC MS64 $1500

Pristine looking, with areas of medium depth patina on each side. Clean enough for an MS65 grade, but too soft in strike, in my opinion. PCGS ID#19239709.

Images: http://markfeldcoins.com/client/halfdime1832pcgs64.jpg

1843 Stars Obverse Seated Liberty Half Dime PCGS/CAC MS64 $650

This beauty is just slightly lighter and more vibrant than seen in its excellent image. Outstanding overall appearance for this, or any grade. PCGS ID#13701750.

Images: http://markfeldcoins.com/client/halfdime1843pcgs64.jpg

1862 Legend Obverse Seated Liberty Half Dime NGC MS66 $1425

Struck from lightly clashed dies, this highly lustrous, sharply detailed example boasts attractive patina and a wonderful overall appearance. It is lighter, brighter and flashier when viewed in person. CAC declined to award a sticker to this coin. NGC ID#450731-001.

Images: http://markfeldcoins.com/client/halfdime1862ngc66.jpg

1863 Legend Obverse Seated Liberty Half Dime PCGS/CAC MS67 $4800

To my eyes, this coin looks good in the accompanying image. But in hand, the effect is dramatically different - it looks sensational. How many times have you seen me use the "S" word before? The color is spectacular, as are the technical merits. And the visual appeal is huge, for any coin, be it a Half Dime or a Double Eagle. This is my personal favorite from this list. PCGS population of 15 with only 3 higher. PCGS ID#26207049.

Images: http://markfeldcoins.com/client/halfdime1863pcgs67.jpg

1870 Legend Obverse Seated Liberty Half Dime PCGS/CAC MS64 $675

Here is another lustrous, eye-catching Seated Liberty Half Dime. And like several from this list, it's color is somewhat lighter, and its appearance brighter and flashier than seen in the image. PCGS ID#13140643.

NImages: http://markfeldcoins.com/client/halfdime1870pcgs64.jpg

1871 Legend Obverse Seated Liberty Half Dime NGC/CAC MS65 $975

Delicately toned in lovely lilac and sea-green hues. Well struck and without any distracting flaws, whatsoever, this gem is housed in a older NGC "fatty" holder. NGC ID#388820-005.

Images: http://markfeldcoins.com/client/halfdime1871ngc65.jpg

1872-S Legend Obverse Seated Liberty Half Dime PCGS MS64 $395

Mintmark Above Bow. Yes, this Half Dime section really does have an end to it, but why hurry? This appealing looking coin looks about as close to how it appears in the image as a person could expect or even hope for. PCGS ID#12057248.

Images: http://markfeldcoins.com/client/halfdime1872Spcgs64.jpg

1872-S Legend Obverse Seated Liberty Half Dime PCGS MS66 $1375

Mintmark Below Bow. Sharply detailed and very colorful on each side. Gorgeous. Doesn’t it seem like MS66 Seated Half Dimes are a good relative value at today's price levels? PCGS ID#26211203.

Images: http://markfeldcoins.com/client/halfdime1872Spcgs66.jpg

1873 Legend Obverse Seated Liberty Half Dime PCGS/CAC PR65+ $1575

This last year of issue example was shipped to me on consignment recently, and I laughed to myself when I saw it - because I had owned it previously, and not too long ago. I liked it then and I like it now. Reflective mirror surfaces are highlighted by pretty toning on each side. Another offering which is a bit lighter in color and flashier than it appears in the image. PCGS ID#20178637.

Images: http://markfeldcoins.com/client/sold/halfdime1873pcgspr65plus.jpg

DIMES:

1873 Legend Obverse Seated Liberty Dime NGC PR64 $850

Closed 3, No Arrows. Medium depth patina graces each side of this watery looking example. CAC declined to award a sticker to this coin. NGC ID#3317920-008.

Images: http://markfeldcoins.com/client/dime1873ngcPR64.jpg

1873 Legend Obverse Seated Liberty Dime NGC/CAC PR66+ $2425

Closed 3, No Arrows. Colorfully toned on both sides and highly original looking. NGC ID#3418334-001.

Images: http://markfeldcoins.com/client/dime1873NGCpr66.jpg

1884 Legend Obverse Seated Liberty Dime NGC/CAC MS65 $825

A satiny example, which is delicately and evenly toned, but for a fiery cinnamon colored reverse periphery. NGC ID#337634-006.

Images: http://markfeldcoins.com/client/dime1884ngc65.jpg

1886 Legend Obverse Seated Liberty Dime PCGS/CAC PR67 $3800

Richly toned in a blend of turquoise and pink hues. The holder is scratched on both sides, but the coin, itself, appears to be essentially flawless. Thus, this is a fine offering for the superb coin enthusiast, but a very poor one for the holder collector. PCGS ID#25541771

QUARTERS:

1834 Capped Bust Quarter PCGS MS64 $10,750

Formerly sold as lot #820 in the June 2008 West Palm Beach sale conducted by Heritage, wherein it was described as follows: "1834 25C MS64 PCGS. B-4, R.1. A delightful Choice representative of this popular and available variety, distinguished on the obverse by the first star's closeness to the tip of the bust and on the reverse by the wide gap between OF and AMERICA. This well-defined and minimally marked beauty offers rich orange-gold, rose, and violet patina over strongly lustrous, carefully preserved surfaces. Population: 37 in 64, 11 finer (5/08).

From The Charleston Collection.(Registry values: P1) (#5353)". Price realized $10,350. A vertical scratch on Liberty's cheek might be all that keeps this from an MS64+ grade. The coin has since resided with my client, who is in the process of grudgingly forcing himself to consolidate his large connection of magnificent coins. PCGS ID#06775025.

Images: http://markfeldcoins.com/client/quarter1834pcgs64.jpg

1837 Capped Bust Quarter PCGS XF45 $575

Scattered marks can be seen on each side of this rather deeply toned example. It looks like an XF48 (if there were such a grade) to me. PCGS ID#24944280.

Images: http://markfeldcoins.com/client/quarter1837pcgsXF45.jpg

1840-O No Drapery Seated Liberty Quarter PCGS VF25 $240

This certainly isn't the type of coin that I typically offer for sale. But I saw it in an auction, was struck by how original looking it was, and fortunately, was able to acquire it. PCGS ID#18325648.

Images: http://markfeldcoins.com/client/quarter1840OpcgsVF25.jpg

1876-S Motto Seated Liberty Quarter PCGS MS64 $925

Evenly toned to a medium depth hue and quite clean for the assigned grade. PCGS ID#19111373.

Images: http://markfeldcoins.com/client/quarter1876Spcgs64.jpg

1891 Motto Seated Liberty Quarter PCGS MS65 $1800

Areas of colorful toning are scattered about both sides of this appealing looking, last year of issue representative. The color is a bit lighter and more attractive than see in the image. Additionally, it is generally well struck, but for the stars on the right side of the obverse. PCGS ID#13929321.

Images: http://markfeldcoins.com/client/quarter1891pcgs65.jpg

1958 Washington Quarter PCGS/CAC MS67 $260

Pretty on the obverse and beautiful on the reverse. PCGS ID#07890639.

Images: http://markfeldcoins.com/client/quarter1958pcgs67.jpg

1958-D Washington Quarter PCGS/CAC MS67 $550

Spectacular rainbow toned obverse, with a deep and gorgeous multicolored reverse. And, unlike the hype masters, who are so prevalent these days, when I say "Rainbow", I mean it. This coin looks more impressive in person. PCGS ID#25539935.

Images: http://markfeldcoins.com/client/quarter1958Dpcgs67.jpg

HALF DOLLARS:

1806 Draped Bust Half Dollar PCGS AU50 $4600

Pointed 6, (with) Stem. Fresh looking luster emanates from beneath pleasing old time toning, on this highly original looking example. I look at a lot of Draped Bust Half Dollars and like/end up with very few of them. This majestic looking coin is a wonderful exception. PCGS ID#30007534.

Images: http://markfeldcoins.com/client/halfdollar1806pcgsAU50.jpg

1835 Capped Bust Half Dollar ANACS AU50 $400

I rarely buy and sell ANACS coins, but when I saw this one in an auction, I knew I had to have it. That was due to this coin's deep, colorful toning and eye-catching semi-prooflike obverse. The obverse flash is not fully apparent in the still-impressive looking image. ANACS ID#631506.

Images: http://markfeldcoins.com/client/halfdollar1835ANACSau50.jpg

1851-O No Motto Seated Liberty Half Dollar PCGS MS65 $15,500

Ex David Akers. This rare "rare coin" sold previously as lot #4958 in the August, 2010 Boston ANA sale conducted by Heritage, wherein it was described as follows:"1851-O 50C MS65 PCGS. CAC. On the surface, the mintage of 402,000 pieces would seem to be generous for the 1851-O half. However, New Orleans silver was heavily circulated, and few examples were set aside in Mint State. In part, this was because there was basically no collecting base in the country in 1851. Also, no one paid attention to mintmarks until after 1900 or so, by which time most 1851-O halves were heavily circulated. This is one of the few exceptions. The surfaces exhibit strong mint luster and varying shades of gray toning on each side, lighter in the centers and darker at the margins. The strike definition is strong throughout. Population: 3 in 65, 1 finer (6/10).

From The Personal Collection of David W. Akers.(Registry values: N4719) (#6267)". Price realized $18,400. At the time of the auction, the coin had been stickered by CAC, but the holder no longer bears the CAC sticker, and whoever acquires is should not count on CAC stickering it again. PCGS ID#20314459.

Images: http://markfeldcoins.com/client/halfdollar1851Opcgs65.jpg

1877 Motto Seated Liberty Half Dollar PCGS/CAC MS64 $1600

Somewhat unusual looking toning - which I like, but do not expect everyone else will - adds character to this frosty example. Lighter and a bit brighter in hand. PCGS ID#25551785.

Images: http://markfeldcoins.com/client/halfdollar1877pcgs64.jpg

1915-D Barber Half dollar PCGS/CAC MS65 $2875

This gem Barber Half is not especially pretty, but it's certainly not unattractive, either. And, in fact, it is very clean and original looking. Additionally, it offers lustrous surfaces, which are highlighted by light steel-gray patina. PCGS ID#25551915.

Images: http://markfeldcoins.com/client/halfdollar1915Dpcgs65.jpg

1934-D Walking Liberty Half Dollar PCGS/CAC MS66 $2275

Areas of pretty red, orange and golden color can be seen on the obverse of this impressive, well made Walker. The image does not do this one justice in the eye-appeal department. Only 6 examples (2 MS66+'s and 4 MS67's) have been graded higher by PCGS. And it would surprise me if the majority of them were noticeably better looking than this one. PCGS ID#26379133.

Images: http://markfeldcoins.com/client/halfdollar1934Dpcgs66.jpg

DOLLARS:

1881-S Morgan Dollar PCGS MS65 $230

A crescent of multicolored toning covers most of the obverse. PCGS ID#18654207.

Images: http://markfeldcoins.com/client/dollar1881Spcgs65last.jpg

1881-S Morgan Dollar NGC MS65* $400

A splash of gorgeous multicolored toning on each side, no doubt accounts for the NGC star for exceptional eye appeal on this attention-grabbing Morgan. NGC ID#3623686-001.

Images: http://markfeldcoins.com/client/dollar1881sngc65star.jpg

1882-S Morgan Dollar PCGS MS66 $450

Encapsulated in an older green-label PCGS holder, this blazing white example looks like an MS66+ at a minimum, to me. PCGS ID#4627785.

Images: http://markfeldcoins.com/client/dollar1882Spcgs66.jpg

1884-CC Morgan Dollar NGC/CAC MS66* $975

Lustrous and very flashy, with a spectacular multicolored crescent on the obverse. Certainly deserving of the NGC star for exceptional eye appeal. NGC ID#3094602-016.

Images: http://markfeldcoins.com/client/dollar1884CCngc66star.jpg

1885-O Morgan Dollar NGC/CAC MS65+ $195

My guess is that this richly toned specimen would have received a higher grade if it were better struck. Still, it looks perfectly nice, just the same. NGC ID#3491851-001.

Images: http://markfeldcoins.com/client/dollar1885Ongc65plus.jpg

1886 Morgan Dollar PCGS PR63 $3175

Light golden orange toning evenly highlights the bright, deeply mirrored surfaces. Oh, if only most PR63's looked even close to this good! This coin is considerably lighter in hue and flashier than seen in the image. PCGS ID#2739403.

Images: http://markfeldcoins.com/client/dollar1886pcgsPR63.jpg

SILVER COMMEMORATIVES:

Albany PCGS MS66 $575

Toned in an even, medium depth patina and housed in an old green label PCGS holder. PCGS ID#9811291.

Images: http://markfeldcoins.com/client/commemAlbanypcgs66.jpg

Antietam NGC MS65

Housed in an old NGC "fatty" holder (with a bad scratch on the back of it), this lightly toned Antietam looks like a high end representative for the assigned grade.

NGC ID#207917-005.

Images: http://markfeldcoins.com/client/commemAntietamNGC65.jpg

Texas 1938-S PCGS MS67+ $3150

According to the PCGS Population report, this is 1 of 2 MS67+'s for this issue, with a single MS68 having been graded. This one features highly lustrous surfaces which are complemented (and deserve to be complimented, as well) by lovely, fairly subtle pastel patina at portions of the border on each side. A beautiful coin! PCGS ID#25395719.

Images: http://markfeldcoins.com/client/commemTexas1938Spcgs67plus.jpg

BTW 1946 PCGS/CAC MS67 $1450

Highly lustrous, with a glowing appearance. The obverse features golden-orange toning, while the reverse offers that, along with some really pretty green, red and violet mixed in at the periphery.

PCGS ID#08985011.

Images: http://markfeldcoins.com/client/commemBTW1946pcgs66.jpg

GOLD:

1927 Indian $2.50 PCGS MS64 $1325

Pleasing golden-orange in hue, with traces of lilac mixed in. Somewhat unusual looking and desirable, as such. PCGS ID#22017343.

Images: http://markfeldcoins.com/client/goldtwohalf1927pcgs64.jpg

1924 St. Gaudens $20 PCGS MS65 $2525

I sold this coin recently, but when CAC declined to award it a sticker, my client decided to part with it. I feel that the orange coloration is quite attractive and that the surfaces are cleaner than seen on many other MS65's. PCGS ID#13194198.

Images: http://markfeldcoins.com/client/sold/goldtwenty1924pcgs65.jpg

PATTERNS:

J-723, Pollock 804 1869 Standard Silver Quarter PCGS PR65RB $2875

R-6, struck in copper with reeded edge. Obverse with Liberty facing right, wearing a cap ornamented with three stars. Reverse center reads "25 CENTS", surrounded by an oak and laurel wreath and "STANDARD SILVER" above and the date below. Pleasing blend of mint red and faded mint red colors predominate on both sides of this original looking example. A number of small spots and a darker toned area at the obverse are mentioned for the sake of accuracy. According to the PCGS Population Report, this is one of only two RB's at any grade level, certified by PCGS, the other a PR63. Additionally, PCGS has graded four BN examples, none of them higher than PR64, and three PR64RD's. Translation - this is the highest graded J-723 certified by PCGS. PCGS ID#60066987.
