Asking for a closer picture

Can anyone tell me something about this coin?

Does it fit in any collections? I don't see it in under "World Coins" in Competitive Sets.

Here is the Custom Set I put it under.

If it is really damaged?

What are the markings on the side?

This is the oldest coin in my collection and I know very little about it. I bought it in Kuwait. The man said he had it in his family for over 350 years. I haggle him for it for three days. I told him it would stay in my family for as long as it was in his.

I found a website to confirm what it was.

Thanks

It is indeed damaged. If you look at the photo of the reverse, you can see a whole in the coin at about 1:30 near the middle of the coin. The edge counterstamp is noted, not detracting from the grade though.

No idea on the registry sets.

Thanks. I wanted to see what others were thinking because on the website http://www215.pair.com/sacoins/public_html/mughal/mughal_20_sha.html those coins had the little hole also. I was thinking that that was the mint mark.

Thank again.

I'm no expert on the early world side, but although they appear to be similar holes, it looks like your hole is out of place. How I mean that is that the link you provided shows coins who have holes in a round part of the device, and your coin has its hole seeming in the middle of a line instead of at a round point. I may be out of left field on that though.

The hole is definately damage. Its strange that NGC missed the hole but considered the counterstamp to be damage. Enen with the hole still a very attractive and historical coin.
