The Other Side of the Rainbow by JAA USA/Philippines Collection

The reverse of this 1903 Half Centavo PR65 RB, from the Dr. Greg Pineda Philippine Collection, has beautiful multi-color (red, green, blue, and purple) toning.

The toning pattern on this coin is very complex and changes as the coin is viewed from different angles. Capturing the ever changing colors of this specimen was a real challenge. Imagine trying to photograph the hologram on one of your credit cards.

The photograph attached to this journal was taken outdoors using natural overcast lighting. When viewed in person the coin is much more vibrant than the attached photo.

The obverse of this coin is even more spectacular and features gorgeous iridescent rainbow toning. For the background story on this coin and a picture of the rainbow toned obverse click here: http://coins.www.collectors-society.com/JournalDetail.aspx?JournalEntryID=11766
