Two Nice Jefferson's 1994,1997 100 Greatest Modern US Coins

7 posts in this topic

I just received my 1997 P Jefferson Nickel NGC SP 69 RANK #15 100 GREATEST MODERN US COINS. And it is a nice coin. The only way to get one of these special matte-finish nickels was in the 1997 Botanic Garden Coin & Currency Set and only around 25,000 were sold.

Below are the photos of the coins. I am on a search for SP 70 but the two 69s I can not see any flaws. I have a lot to learn. My quest has begun,

Happy Collecting,

Ed

A question came to mind: Is the reverse of the 1994 toned?

There is a reason I ask.

Many are...mine is. It was that way when I bought the set....which was 12/13 years ago. Now the silver dollar is toning on the reverse.

No toning on the coins. You can view them in my collections gallary.

They seems to be more desirable (un-toned) than the ones that have the brown toning on the reverse. I can only assume the coin was removed from the original mint packaging years ago.

The one I posses has the toning on the reverse as well as the dollar coin.
