i have a 1993 d cent it is silver in color . it has a rim on the edge , a little bigger than a penny more like a nickel. but it is very light weight. more like aluminum. ask several people they said it looks like it was struck on a nickel blank. any help would be appreciated.

Doesn't look like the size of a nickel to me, and quite possibly someone just took the plating off a real cent.

That would be my guess. I can't see anyone would bother to counterfeit a 1993 cent.

As such it really has no collector value.

1993 cents were made out of copper plated zinc. Either someone has removed the plating or the planchet wasn't properly plated with copper. There is a 1990 example on eBay. You may want to show this to an error specialist.

EDITED TO ADD: I'm assuming that the diameter and weight are consistent with this theory.

Given that there is black stuff in the letters on the obverse, I'd that say it has been messed with, and that it is not a plating error. At any rate zinc is an unstable metal, and I would think that preserving this piece or one that is a true mint error would be a challenge.

Almost looks like a coin that has been dipped in mercury

When I was a kid I use to dip Lincoln Cents in Mercury at my Dads Pharmacy.

They had a similar color to this coin. I am sure many here will add that playing with Mercury at such a young age has someone affected my brain – you are probably correct .

lol
