Oregon Trail Half Dollar

Found this info while conducting my book research which I have transcribed from the original documents: :)

 

 

"This half dollar is the second coin of Oregon Trail Memorial issue of six million to be sent out from this office of the Oregon Trail Memorial Association at 18 Old Ship, New York City, N.Y. The coin was executed by Chas. Frazer & his wife Laura Gardin Frazer".

The first coin went to Ezra Meeker himself.

Chas. Frazer? Is he any relation to James Earle Fraser?

 

Anyway, it's still my favorite of the early commems.

I didn't doubt that for a moment, but isn't it remarkable that some things never change!

 

It seems there will always be people who can remember half of what they read and recite 10% of it accurately.
